Surely this rocky substrate has been used as a stone quarry continuously at least since turdetan time, it seems that its operation should be intensified following the important constructive works of the IV Count of Ureña in the 16th century until the 60´s decade of last century in which it stops working.

It was erected by the middle of the seventeenth century and it was the side where the Way of the Cross ended.  Close to the quarries, like a chapel, it stands the remains of tombs carved into the rock, following the model of the Necropolis.
